Population of California Great Whites 220 to 350
Sacramento — On February 6, 2013 the California Fish and Game Commission unanimously voted to advance the candidacy of the most feared predator in the ocean — the Great White Shark. They said that it should be studied as a potential endangered species, which means during a one-year study review it will receive the same protections it would if it were listed as endangered. Great White Sharks...

Fatal Shark Attack - October 23, 2012
Note:  Fall months are great white shark season in California.  Surfer’s know the risks.  Another factor involved in this attack is it happened in the same location as a 2010 fatal attack on a body boarder.  There have been numerous white shark sitings this summer in Santa Barbara waters.   Surf Beach — On October 23, 2012 Francisco Javier Solorio Jr., 40, of Orcutt was killed by a...

White Sharks Guilty Until Proven Innocent in...
Killing them is a dumb idea.  Many sharks swim where swimmers are and have no intention on eating them.  Yet, Australian government has decided to kill any shark that gets near swimmers.  Idiotic and barbaric. Western Australia called on the federal government yesterday to lift a ban on the fishing of great white sharks following an unprecedented fifth death in its waters within less than a...

The sighting has been deemed credible. As such, the Parks and Recreation Department is posting...

Thanks for signing Shark Wranglers Petition - It...
Thank you to everyone who signed the Shark Wranglers Petition I posted a link to; I just found out that it won’t be back on the History Channel next season! I received this email it was sort of a fluke that he had been part of the original shark wranglers.  I was trying to find out if there was an Android app for the shark tracking I saw during shark week, when I realized he wasn’t...

Just a thought about the increase in great white...
It seems like there have been a lot more sightings and interactions with white sharks in California and worldwide.  It worries me that they could be taken off the protected species list for this reason, because it may not be that there is a big increase in their population, but just an increase of mass communication via cell phone cameras, and the Internet.  It really is amazing how often people...
